Hi,
I have a requirement to open a PDM that was created in PowerDesigner
(or s-designer), probably version 5 or 6. I need to open this in PD 15
or any other software that can help open it.. Any ideas on how I can
achieve this? My further task is to generate the database using
information from that PDM. Does anybody know if I can use Visio to do
this?

Will be thankful for any replies.

First off, did you try it? If so, what happened?

If 15 can't open a v6 model, Maybe v11 can. More likely to find
someone with a v11 copy laying around than a v5 copy.

Is that model the only copy of the schema anywhere? Is the database
itself running somewhere, or on backup? PD can reverse engineer the
database into a new model for you.

I've not been around since PD5/6 days, so I'm not sure what's changed
since then. If you have 15, do you still have a support contract. If
so you could see if they could do the upconvert of the model for you.
Open a case on case express. If you're not under maintenance agreement
maybe it would be worth buying if they'll do the conversion as part of
it. (Is it really just one model?)

Use Visio to do what? Forward Engineer a PowerDesigner model? No, it
can't. But why would you, PD will forward engineer to most RDBMS.
Which database are you using?

I can probably find 11 if 15 won't open it.

I mean, it's worth a shot right?
