How do you perform an impact analysis on a Shortcut.

I'm in 15.3 and when I do an I&LA on a shortcut, i don't get anything.
Just the shortcut.

what am I doing wrong?

Agreed :)

I don't think it's you. I did a quick test and if you right click on the shortcut and request an impact analysis you don't get anything. I did get the results I expected when I opened the object the shortcut pointed to and ran it from there.

Is that what you're seeing?

Exactly Richard!

Thanks for the test.

from memory, I think the Impact Analysis for a shortcut works OK if
the source model is open. Version 16 will improve impact analysis.

Well yes and no. It does work but it's not in the canned I&LA rules.
You have to modify the rules to make it work.

I'll try to attach a .PDF file created for "in-house" training on how
to modify the I&LA rules. If I can't figure out how to attach
the .PDF, I'll write up the "Reader's Digest" version and post them
here. Since the solution requires you to change one of the PD
Resource files, don't forget to BACKUP the original "Global Lineage
Analysis.rul" file.

There doesn't appear to be a way to attach a .PDF file to this Usenet
group. I'll update this post with the location of a blog site that
will contain the .PDF file. Basically, I'm too lazy to re-type the
steps to include Shortcuts in the I&LA rules. Besides, the
presentation on how to do this in PD is cool. Look for an update
soon.
