Thanks Karel.
Yes, I read your post and I got the book and I read it. It was very
helpful. I also followed the other links to learn more about BPMN.
The BPMN symbols that come with PowerDesigner 12 appear to be lacking
or missing. So I thought I would try to find some or draw some. The
good ones that come with PD 12 are in metafile format, is this right?
The are resizable, correct?
After so much tourment, I think I am finally getting a handle on this
PD tool. I had so much success with PD's logical and physical data
model. But I never had to do much customization to the tool and
pretty much used it right out of the box.
Since PD's implementation of BPMN is lacking, I had to learn about
some of the advanced features and one of them is how to add or replace
the graphics for BPMN symbols.
Do you know where I can find some BPMN symbols for PD 12 or is there
another tool that I could use to create my BPD using BPMN?
I have been fighting so much trying to use BPMN with PD 12 that I
have not had much time to draw my diagram. I need to get working on
it soon. My deadline is come up soon.
Thanks,
Troy

Post by Karel van der WaltHi Troy
PD is quite flexible in this regard especially in later versions.
It all depends on whether you want to do it per symbol, per diagram, per
Per symbol
Right-click on symbol and go format
Per diagram
Right-click in diagram (but not on symbol), go display preferences and
navigate in the left tree on the format branch to the object and then go
modify in the right pane
Per Model
Create a new extended model definition. Refer to online documentation on
extension profiles. You can now use stereotypes or even
predicates/conditions to determine the appearance of symbols. And get this
on your own pallete.
I often use profiles just for this - I call them display only profiles
Per all models
Export the above extended model definition

As per my very late response to your BPM questions?
Post by Troy SimpsonI am using the BPM with BPMN v1.0 and I need to add a symbol that is
missing. How can I do that?
For example, I want to modify the process symbol and add a little
clock to is.
Any ideas? What manual do I need to read.
Thanks,
Troy
