Hi,

I am using PowerDesigner 16 and I am trying to setup a repository. I
am using MySQL ODBC driver. Installing the repository took more than 2
hours, connecting also is too slow take some minutes. Is it normal?
Someone could help me. I have a remote mysql server host which I am
using to keep the repository.

Regards,

Rafael

Hi Rafael,

No it si not normal. Setting up a repository need thousands of query
stantements. Other databases like Adaptive Server Enterprise, SQL
Anywhere, Oracle or DB2 can handle this in an reasonable time of
several minutes via odbc or a native connection.
There could be two reasons way it is to slow. The database need some
tuning to be able to run the amount of querys send by PD qickly or the
odbc connection to the database is to slow (Network issue).
To be honest I think a open source database like MySQL might not be
the right database for an intensive use with PowerDesigner

Regards

Stefan
